Now living in Maleny on the rolling hills of the Blackall Ranges in the Hinterland of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Richard continues his artwork along side of his Building Design Studio.

As a self taught artist he concentrates on painting and sketching animals and birds. In his formative years he studied art at the North Oxfordshire School of Art alongside a course in animal anatomy, so he could understand the structure of his subjects.

While working and living in the former West Germany his art centred around game and hunting animals of the area. At that time his preferred medium was ink and he became a free lance illustrator for publishing houses in Germany and Switzerland.

On his return to Australia he concentrated more on native and domestic animals of this country. While living in Hahndorf, South Australia he was a part time director of an art gallery which he had designed and exhibited in.

At present Richard concentrates on commissions of animal and bird studies and portraits using pastels as his preferred medium, but he occasionally does ink sketches or combines the two. Richard's works are hung in private collections in England, Wales, Scotland, Germany, Italy, The USA, Canada, New Zealand and in the states of South Australia, New South Wales, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
